I recently joined Influenster (@Influenster) and absolutely LOVE the concept of this company. They sent a bunch of samples in their Holiday Vox Box from Larabars to press-on nails.

So far I’ve tried the Softsoap Coconut Scrub bar soap, Mentos Pure Fresh gum, NYC Liquid Lip Shine, and Larabar. The soap surprisingly didn’t dry my skin out as most bar soaps do. I normally use Dove Go-Fresh but the coconut scent was a nice change. The lip gloss was a cute shade, not too sticky, and tasted delicious. The Mentos gum was good- not great. It’s very minty but the flavor didn’t last too long.
I wish I could say the same about the Larabar. I know it’s supposed to be all natural but oh my gosh, it tasted like tree bark (and I know what that tastes like, I’ve run into trees before). I had the peanut butter cookie flavor so maybe the other flavors taste alright. I’ll leave that to be determined by people who most likely do yoga and other healthy things.
I also received the X Out Wash treatment but haven’t used it enough to see it’s effects. It’s not only a face wash, but a mask and spot treatment as well. The box included another mask by Montagne Jeunesse that I have yet to try.
I’m most excited for the imPress press-on manicure by Broadway Nails. I’ve never worn fake nails before but they look so festive for the holidays, I can’t resist! I’ll probably apply them on Christmas Eve so I reduce the risk of ruining them before Christmas.

All in all, I love being a part of this program and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next box!
My holiday budget is pretty tight- in fact, my budget in general is pretty tight. This year I opted for the “creative” gift for my friends (besties), a.k.a. baking things that cost less than what all my other gifts are wrapped in.
Super easy-
I bought a $5 MASSIVE container of pretzels. Mixed 1 cup of peanut butter, 2 tbsp butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and 3/4 cup brown sugar to create the mixture below.

Managing not to eat the entire bowl of peanut butter heaven, I rolled teaspoon sized balls and smushed them between two pretzels and placed them on a cookie sheet. I popped them in the freezer for about a half hour (the amount of time it took me to melt down some chocolate, clean some dishes, and polish off the rest of that peanut butter mix).

Once cold, you’re supposed to dip them in chocolate. Naturally, my chocolate seized so once I had a new batch melted, I simply poured it over those suckers.
Feeling guilty of how lazy I was, I added some Poor Man’s Truffles to the gift. You may also know them as the Breakup Bites, PMS Pretzels, or simply the Pretzel Rolo Pecan Things.
If you still are like, wtf?, then here’s the one recipe you will always use and never forget. Take pretzels and place them on a cookie sheet. It helps if you line the pan with tin foil first (cleans up better). Unwrap a whole mess of Rolo candies and place on top of the pretzels.
Note: I used holiday themed pretzels because I’m wildly festive and had 3/4 of my $5 container of pretzels left. You can use ANY shaped pretzel, those square waffle ones those seem to work fantastic though.

Now that you hate Rolos because they’re all individually wrapped, put those bad boys in the oven at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. Once they’re soften (NOT MELTED) smush a pecan down over the top. You can even toast the pecan before if you really want to win them over / brown-nose.
And that’s it. Easy- yes. Delicious- definitely. Now kick back, forget your friends, and pack your face with all of those tasty pretzels, Mr. Grinch.
Shout out to What Megan’s Making for the recipe!
